White Quinoa has a delicious, mild earthy flavour, nutty aroma and light fluffy texture once cooked.
It is great in burgers, soups and casseroles and is easy to sprout for stir fries and salads.
How To Use:
Quinoa can be used in any recipe calling for rice.
It makes a terrific side dish flavoured with nuts, herbs and spices and is wonderful in sushi, veggie patties and meatballs and also some cakes.
Before cooking, rinse seed in a sieve under running water to remove the naturally occurring saponin that can be bitter. Then combine 1 cup quinoa and 2 cups water in a saucepan. Bring to the boil and simmer for 15 mins. Remove from heat, cover and let sit for 10 mins.
Sprouting Quinoa:
Quinoa is easy to sprout in a glass jar and is ready to eat in just 2 to 4 days. Have crunchy, nutritious sprouts for salads, sandwiches and stir fries at a fraction of the price of buying them.
