A blend of the dried, ripe fruit of a type of capsicum, this powdered pepper is naturally a deep, brownish-red colour and has a spicy, hot flavour that is a great addition to spice mixes and rubs. It’s best to start with a small amount first as it can be hotter than it first appears. Add it at the beginning of curries to release its oils and fully flavour the dish.
How To Use
Add to any dishes where heat is on the menu including seasoned rubs, hot sauces, marinades and curries. Add some to curries, bean dishes, tempeh, slow cooked lamb, grilled prawns, soups and casseroles.
Sprinkle just a little over poached or scrambled eggs or add a pinch to tomato juice for a peppery drink.
Have you tried Million Dollar Dip? Look it up and when you make it, add a pinch of cayenne pepper. It’s a winner!
