Dates are believed to have originated in the Middle East and have been a valued food source for thousands of years. These certified Organic dates have a rich sweet flavour and aroma, with a slightly chewy texture. They have been dried and pitted; have nothing artificial added and are non-GMO. Dates are wonderful when entertaining or as a quick snack. A pantry staple, dates are great for lunch boxes; in raw food recipes; baked goods; and sweet or savoury dishes.
How to Use:
Simply enjoy Organic Pitted Dates as a quick snack; in lunch boxes; on a cheese and fruit plate; or with dips and crackers. Chopped dates are delicious added to smoothies, muesli and porridge; or include them with seeds and nuts in a Hiker’s mix. In savoury recipes, dates can be used in sauces, pickles, chutney and stuffing; and go well with rice, couscous or quinoa, robust vegetarian dishes, poultry and meat.
Popular in many sweet and savoury raw food recipes, Organic dates are great with nut butter or soft cheese, in wraps and salads, or in slices and muesli bars. Pitted dates are also yummy in home-baked fruit bread, scones, muffins, biscuits, cakes and absolutely delightful in steamed puddings. If required, pitted dates can be pre-softened by soaking in a little warm water or juice.
