Khorasan, also known as Kamut, is an ancient form of wheat with grains that are much larger than modern wheat.
This unbleached Kamut flour is made from grain that is grown in Australia on farms that are ASP certified as using sustainable methods. This certification is recognised by ACCC and ensures globally benchmarked standards of sustainability for soil health, water conservation, biodiversity and emission reductions are implemented incorporating scientific measurements and processes in combination with continual improvement measures. ASP certified products are also extensively tested for residues.
It has a rich, nutty flavour. Khorasan flour can be used anytime a recipe calls for all-purpose flour. The full flavour is delicious in homemade bread, cakes, pasta and pizza dough.
How to use:
Khorasan flour can be used for all your home-baked goodies and any time a recipe calls for plain or all-purpose flour. As this flour is plain flour it is necessary to add a raising agent, such as yeast or baking powder, when baking or using a recipe that needs self-raising flour.
Khorasan flour combines well with other flours and is absolutely scrumptious in homemade bread, puddings, cakes, muffins and biscuits.
It is also suitable for rue and sauces, batters and ‘dusting’, or it can be used to make scrumptious fresh pasta and pizza dough.
Storage:
Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Refrigeration is recommended in warm climates.
Shelf Life:
Up to 12 months when stored as above. See Best Before date.
