This barley powder is made from leaves of young barley, whilst it is still in the grass stage before the grain grows or the gluten forms. It is organically grown and processed in Australia. The barley grass has been dried at a lower temperature and then powdered to create this convenient, easy to use superfood. Barley grass is valued as a source of chlorophyll, amino acids, antioxidants, minerals & vitamins, which is why it’s a popular addition to fresh juices and smoothies. It has a robust, herbaceous flavour and aroma.
How to Use:
Organic barley grass powder can be added to your morning smoothie, or stir 1-2 teaspoons into a fresh juice for added nutrition. Add ½-1 teaspoon each of barley grass and matcha green tea powder to your favourite heated milk, with a little sweetener of choice, to create a healthy latte alternative.
Jazz up dinner with a bright green salad dressing by mixing it with yogurt or avocado, lemon juice, garlic, coriander and olive oil. Barley grass is also a great addition to raw food recipes. Try a sprinkle in nori rolls and salad wraps, use in dips and pesto, or add to puddings, muesli bars and superfood balls. It is also great as a natural food colour that can be used in place of food dyes for icing or to create bright green homemade ice treats the kids will love. It is best to add barley grass powder to cold foods, or at the end of cooking, to preserve the nutrients.
