Bi carb (also commonly known as Sodium Bicarbonate, baking soda, or Sodium Hydrogen Carbonate) is a premium powder widely used as a leavening agent, aerator or alkali in recipes.

Bi carb soda has a saline, slightly alkaline taste and no aroma. Use it in breads and cakes to help them rise. This food grade Bicarb is sourced from natural deposits using certified sustainable processes and is certified with ACO for organic input for food or cosmetic production  It has been analysed and found to contain no aluminium; and it is not irradiated or fumigated – so it has not been exposed to ionizing radiation or ethylene oxide during processing.

How to Use:

Organic Bicarb can be used on its own as directed in recipes. It is very popular as an integral ingredient in traditional soda bread and cakes. Or mix your own ‘baking powder’, the ingredient used to make Self Raising flour from Plain flour. Combine ½ tsp. of Cream of Tartar with ¼ tsp. of Bicarb (2:1), and (optional) ¼ tsp. of corn starch.

This is equivalent to 1 tsp. of Baking Powder in recipes and can be added to 110 grams of Plain flour to make Self Raising flour.

Because Bicarb starts to react in recipes as soon as moisture is added, be sure to bake batter immediately. Bicarb soda is also used as a natural household deodorant, to sprinkle on fresh stains in carpets or with vinegar as a cleaner.

Storage:

Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Refrigeration recommended in warm climates.

Shelf Life:

Up to 12 months when stored as above. See Best Before date.
