Guar gum is made from dried guar beans. This powder can be used as a thickener, binder or emulsifier in sweet or savoury recipes and baked goods. Guar powder does not need to be heated to thicken – so great for cold dishes. It is also often used in gluten-free or vegan recipes including dairy-free ice desserts and salad dressings. This naturally gluten and grain-free organic guar powder is an off-white colour and has a light natural flavour with an earthy aroma.
How to Use:
Guar Gum is a great thickener to use in sauces, soups and desserts. Use about 1 teaspoon for each cup of liquid in hot sauces; about ½ as much in cold recipes. As guar powder can clump it may be best to lightly sprinkle into liquid while continuously whisking until well combined and thickened. Use guar gum as directed in baking recipes, or add about ½ teaspoon for each cup of gluten-free flour to improve binding and texture – fab in pizza dough, bread, cakes and muffins. Guar gum can also be used in ice cream and gelato as an emulsifier – resulting in a smooth texture free of ice crystals.

Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.
