With a warm sweet flavour that has earthy aniseed notes, Licorice Root is a wonderful addition to any herbal tea mix.

Licorice root (glycyrrhiza glabra) can be found growing in Europe, the Mediterranean and Asia. It has been used for thousands of years and is valued for its calming and restorative properties. Licorice is well known as a soothing digestive.

This certified organic licorice root is conveniently cut into small pieces – perfect for tea infusers or pots. It can be enjoyed as a hot or cold beverage or ground to a powder to use in cooking recipes.

How To Use:

Use 1 teaspoon for each 200 mL of hot water (and one for the pot). Steep for 5-8 minutes, or a little longer for a stronger flavour. Best served without milk. Sweeten with a little honey, if desired.

Licorice root is a delicious addition to chai tea blends. This licorice root can also be used to flavour savoury or sweet dishes. Grind to a fine powder for baked goods, sauces, hotpots and desserts. Or make a strong tea infusion and let cool, before using in ice creams and sorbets.


Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Refrigeration recommended in warm climates.
