Pine nuts are small, cream to golden coloured kernels. They have a subtle, slightly sweet flavour and aroma, with a creamy, soft texture. All though called a ‘nut’, Pine nuts are actually the edible seeds collected from around 20 varieties of pine trees. These raw pine nuts are Certified Organic and non-GMO; sustainably grown and processed without the use any artificial inputs. Organic pine nuts are a scrumptious natural snack and a wonderful ingredient in raw foods, baked goods, sweet or savoury recipes.
How to Use:
Organic raw pine nuts are a delectable snack on their own or in a trail mix – combined with dried fruit and seeds. Add pine nuts to muesli, porridge, smoothies or acai bowls. Ground pine nuts are a traditional ingredient in pesto.
Combine with fresh basil, a little olive oil and grated parmesan cheese (optional) in a blender to create this simple yet mouth-watering paste for pasta sauces, dips and as a spread in wraps and sandwiches. For some variety, replace basil with fresh coriander or rocket leaves.
Toss pine nuts – raw or lightly toasted – over salads, or add to stir-fries and hotpots.
Pine nuts are a delicious addition to raw energy balls or home-baked bread, muffins, cakes, biscuits and desserts. A tasty and convenient natural addition to the pantry.
