This Rapadura Sugar is made from Certified Organic sugar cane, grown and processed without the use of any artificial inputs. Rapadura, a traditional sweetener from South America known as Panela, is made by pressing the pure juice from sugar cane. It is then placed over low heat to evaporate the water before it is ground to a fine texture. The result is an unrefined sugar, which retains the natural molasses – giving Rapadura its unique caramel flavour, sweet aroma and rich golden colour.

Organic Rapadura sugar is delicious in hot beverages; and can be used in raw food treats, baked goods and dessert, or savoury dishes that require a sweet touch.

How to Use:

Rapadura Sugar adds a lovely rich sweetness to tea, coffee or hot chocolate. It is also delightful when sprinkled over fresh berries and fruit salads. Or serve with steaming porridge or rice pudding and let it melt away to a scrumptious syrup.

This sugar can be used in place of white, raw or brown sugar in many recipes, including curries and hotpots, marinades and sticky sauces, raw treats, and baked goods – especially muffins, cookies and fruit cakes.

Simply replace other sugars 1:1, or use it instead of agave syrup and honey.

Rapadura may not be suitable for some ‘light’ recipes like meringue, due to the molasses and higher water content. Rapadura makes an irresistible toffee or caramel and can be creamed with butter.
