This flour is stoneground from Australian grown whole grain spelt, including the bran, germ and endosperm. Spelt is an ancient grain related to wheat that has a nutty taste and aroma.
How To Use:
Use as a substitute for plain flour since some people find spelt easier to digest.
Ideal for bread, pizza dough, cakes, biscuits and pasta or use in sauces, gravy or batters as well as coating food before frying.
Spelt often requires a little less moisture than other wheat flours so reduce the liquid by 10% to start with and add more if needed. Also, since it’s lower in gluten, it may not rise as much so add extra raising agent such as yeast or baking powder if they’re in the recipe.
