Rudolph’s Red Nose Cookies with milk chocolate are a delicious recipe-in-a-jar and a great way to add some extra fun to the festive season. Leave a few out for Santa (and his helpers) – the red noses on these choc cookies will help to guide him down your chimney!
A fabulous recipe to make with children – popping the ‘noses’ on to the cookies after baking is bound to delight. Everyone, young and old, will enjoy the ease of this ready to go mix, and the satisfaction of baking your own cookies.
Simply add the wet ingredients listed below and soon the delightful aroma of warm cookies will be wafting through the kitchen.
This wonderful recipe-in-a-jar also makes a fabulous gift for other budding bakers – or share your finished goodies with friends and neighbours.
To Add:
• 135g butter, softened
• 1 egg
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
Method:
1. Preheat oven to 160˚C. Line two baking trays with silicone mats.
2. Remove the orange balls and chocolate buttons from the jar and set them aside for later.
3. In a large bowl, using a handheld or stand mixer, beat the butter, egg and vanilla extract. Don’t worry if it looks a bit lumpy, it will come together once the dry ingredients are added.
4. Pour the remaining dry ingredients into the bowl. Mix on low until combined and there are no lumps.
5. Stir the chocolate buttons through dough. Don’t add the orange balls yet!
6. Roll tablespoons of the dough into 24 balls and place on trays, about 6cm apart.
7. Bake in oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the centres are still soft.
8. Remove from oven then wait 3 minutes before pushing an orange ball into the centre of each cookie. Cool on the trays.
Store in an airtight container for up to 7 days.
Don’t forget to leave some cookies out for Santa on Christmas Eve!
