Wild Rice offers a great alternative to white rice, with its mildly sweet and nutty flavour.
The slightly chewy texture of this Wild Rice makes it a great addition to many traditional rice dishes including Pilaf, Jambalaya and Risotto. It can even be used in sweet dishes such as rice puddings.
How To:
To prepare, rinse wild rice before use and add 8 cups of water to a saucepan for every 1 cup of rice being cooked. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat and boil gently uncovered for 35 minutes. Remove from the heat, drain well and serve.
Wild rice can also be prepared using the absorption method or in a rice cooker.
Storage:
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Shelf Life:
Up to 24 months, when stored as above. See Best Before date.
