Popular in Mexican and Latin American dishes such as burritos, tacos, chilli and refried beans.
Why are they called turtle beans? It’s because of their turtle shape.
How To Use:
Try smashed bean dip with pureed beetroot and sumac. Use them as a filling for burritos and tacos or make classic re-fried chilli beans. Add to salads, casseroles and veggie burgers or make classic black bean soup.
Presoak beans overnight, drain and rinse, then boil for 90 mins or until tender. Do not add salt at this stage of cooking, as this may make beans tough. There’s no need to presoak if using a pressure cooker. These beans will double in size when cooked. Drain and use or refrigerate in an airtight container for 3-5 days.
Storage:
Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. See Best Before date.
