Chickpeas, also known as garbanzo beans, are a legume that has been utilised in Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cookery for centuries.

These certified organic chickpeas have a subtle, nutty flavour and creamy yet firm texture and retain their shape well when cooked.

They’re also delicious in salads, burgers, soups and casseroles and are easy to sprout for stir fries and salads.

How To Use:

Versatile and nutritious, these are the star ingredient in hummus and falafel.  Mash them in veggie burgers or add to soups and tagines.  For a healthy snack or to sprinkle on salads, preboil then coat the chickpeas with olive oil and spices such as sumac or chilli, then spread onto a tray and bake until golden and crunchy.

To cook, presoak overnight, rinse and then simmer in fresh water for 60 to 90 mins.  Using a pressure cooker will reduce cooking time. Do not add salt to cooking water as this can cause the skin of pulses to become tough.

Sprouting Chickpeas:

Chickpeas are easy to sprout in a glass jar and are ready to eat in just 2 to 4 days.  Have crunchy, nutritious sprouts for salads, sandwiches and stir fries at a fraction of the price of buying them.
