Organic red split lentils are a colourful and flavour-filled pulse.  More orange than red, they have a light nutty flavour and aroma.

They’re very easy to cook with as there’s no need to presoak and they’re quick to prepare.  They can be cooked for a short time to retain their shape for salads and burgers, or cooked for longer to give a creamy consistency perfect for traditional Indian recipes.

Add to soups and stews or use to make vibrant dips and dahl.  Cooked and cooled, these can be added to salads and wraps or made into lentil burgers with besan flour, spices and fresh herbs.

Mash cooked lentils to thicken curries and casseroles or try red lentil nachos loaded with corn salsa, avocado and yoghurt.

These premium red split lentils are certified organic and non-GMO.

How to Use:

As split lentils cook much more quickly than whole lentils, there’s no need for presoaking.

Add uncooked split lentils directly to curries and hotpots, simmering for 20 minutes or until soft.

To precook split lentils, bring to the boil in plenty of water then simmer for 10 minutes, or until soft but still intact.  Do not add salt to the water, as this can cause the ‘skin’ to become tough.
